Thanks goodness for your careful labelling, Sal! This has the place and time on the back written by you (as above).  And it deserves this special one-off posting, as everyone loves this photo!
Dad was doing his impression of the Staff Sergeant that drill-trained him in the Army, before he headed off to the war in Papua New Guinea....  Where, btw, he was shot at, and hence was entitled to gold-card Vet treatment thereafter, which Mutti inherited on his death.
I reckon that's a measure of an enlightened and civilised society: that it treats its Vets well.  (whatever one might think of the rights or wrongs of the war in question...)
