Switzerland, Christmas 72

I really like the above photo, especially now that I've cropped it slightly. I remember that these fields really smelled with the cow-dung they spread on them... just outside of Berne city.... BTW: any caption in quotes is your note on the back of the photo...

Thanks goodness for your careful labelling, Sal! This has the place and time on the back written by you (as above). And it deserves this special one-off posting, as everyone loves this photo!
Dad was doing his impression of the Staff Sergeant that drill-trained him in the Army, before he headed off to the war in Papua New Guinea.... Where, btw, he was shot at, and hence was entitled to gold-card Vet treatment thereafter, which Mutti inherited on his death.
I reckon that's a measure of an enlightened and civilised society: that it treats its Vets well. (whatever one might think of the rights or wrongs of the war in question...)

Greece, 1972

Well, finally I get back to posting some photos, these ones sent to me by snail mail by Sal, in September 2012. I've been a bit busy building the little boat, and dealing with the movements of the big boat -- to Thailand and back, to King's Cup, in the China Coast Regatta, etc, all on the Xena blog.... The little boat build is here.
Sooooo. Below the results of some scanning just now. I've started with the "Greece 1972" envelope and have made some judgements on what to include, ie, some editing; haven't scanned all in the packet....
Now, Sal, I've included the lovely ones of you and Padge showering; after all, you sent them.... ~~And we're still private here~~. [PF 2/4/19: not any more...]. But if you want me to remove them, let me know.... Pxx
